Brave Waters

The Brave Waters Association is a Nevada nonprofit that provides wounded veterans with outdoor adventures in support of their healing.

We organize escapes in partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and the Reno Vet Center, The event's volunteers include members of Task Force Garrison and the Reno/Tahoe chapter of Project Healing Waters, as well as NDOW volunteer outdoor instructors. The escape is funded by private donations. The event is usually held at Hobart Reservoir in the Spooner Backcountry in cooperation with Nevada State Parks and the Marlette Lake Water System.  Due to Hobart Reservoir being closed for dam repairs, the 2026 retreat will take place on a private reservoir.

We have partnered with Task Force Garrison to deliver additional outdoor adventures.
