Brave Waters

The Brave Waters Association is a Nevada nonprofit that provides wounded veterans with outdoor adventures in support of their healing. We organize retreats in partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and the Reno Vet Center. Our volunteers include members of Task Force Garrison and local fly fishing clubs, as well as NDOW volunteer outdoor instructors. Our programs are funded by private donors.

Our main event is held annually. It usually takes place at Hobart Reservoir in the Spooner Backcountry. Because Hobart Reservoir is closed for dam repairs, the 2026 retreat will take place on a private reservoir. We hope to return to Hobart Reservoir in 2027.

We have partnered with Task Force Garrison to provide additional outdoor adventures to the veterans community of northern Nevada.
